More often than not, the immediate thought most people have in improving the security of any properties has been to simply install an alarm system. This isn't, on the whole, a bad idea, but intruder detection systems are not the be all and end all. They can play an central role of any strategy to protect a building from intruders, but the system needs to be well designed and properly installed as well as being supported by other security measures, especially physical deterrents such as good locks.
The advances that have occurred in the last few years in wireless alarm systems mean that a fully wireless system can be totally reliable and much simpler to install. With no wires being laid across the property the installation can be done with far more focus placed on the ideal siting of the PIR sensors rather than the logistical difficulty of positioning distant sensors. We always take care to ensure that an alarm system is correctly installed to ensure that false alarms are kept to a minimum. Part of this obviously involves having a proper, manned monitoring system. This is most often carried out remotely from a dedicated monitoring centre, something which is recommended by the ACPO (Association of Chief Police Officers) and demanded by most insurers.
